EN: We are delighted to be joined by Sara Lucas aka Hello the Mushroom on March 29th at 2pm for the second event in our Ask an Artist talk series. Sara will be speaking about her approach to making lighthearted art about serious subjects, and you’ll also be able to ask your own burning questions.
About the artist
Sara Lucas aka Hello The Mushroom is an artist from Lisbon, now living in Oslo. Her work can be found in streets and galleries around the world. The artist is interested in the idea of transforming existing materials, by repurposing objects that would otherwise be thrown away or considered redundant. The artworks are mainly image-based and are characterized by the artist’s personal exploration of topics such as life, death and cultural expectations of women, often in a humorous way.
The talk will be in English, and the event is free and open for everyone to join. But spaces are limited, so please sign up to reserve your seat!
Ask an Artist talk series
Artists tend to approach the world and its problems in a way that is unusual, wise and sometimes funny. Often, when life feels overwhelming, it can be a good idea to consult with an artist or take inspiration from a work of art to find an alternative way to engage with the world around us. Artists are great at using their creativity to ask questions about society and about life's challenges. They can help us direct our curiosity about the world and encourage us to find our own answers.
Maybe an artist's perspective can help us approach a subject in a new and productive way, or maybe they can help us look at life with a little fun and joy. Maybe you want to know more about a particular technique, or how to nurture your own creativity. There are many ways artists can inspire us to find our creative voice.
We at Street Art Oslo work to cheer on underrepresented voices in the art world and support them as they share their own unique visual language and ideas with people here in Oslo.
