Prinser og Princesser by Eva Hansen Sjøvold
Gamle Munchmuseet, Tøyengata 53, 0563 Oslo
19 - 22 Sep 2024
EN: Following Eva Hansen Sjøvold's first solo exhibition at Sofienberg church in 2022, Street Art Oslo is proud to present the artist's latest body of work, titled Prinser og Prinsesser, at Gamle Munchmuseet.
Sjøvold's large-format paintings portray their circle of friends and the subculture they are a part of. Their main focus is on outsiders, and the people they paint are usually queer. This latest series is concerned with elevating queer identity and self-expression as aspirational, whilst also acknowledging the dark side of things that are also beautiful.
"I am concerned with conveying an experience of intimacy and a desire for closeness. I work with painting as an extension of the human being, where colors and space should express the inner emotional life of those I paint and my encounter with them." - Eva Hansen Sjøvold
Eva Hansen Sjøvold (b. 2001) is a painter from Mo I Rana, based in Bergen. They have collaborated with Street Art Oslo since spring 2022, which has resulted in two murals – in Grunerløkka and in Mo i Rana – and an exhibition in Sofienberg Church.
